New York City Cultural Trip
In their second and third year, IDEA students undertake a challenging fundraising project to finance a cultural trip to the big city of New York. The class embarks on the trip in early January, with the option of leaving a few days early to experience the famous New Year’s Eve party in Times Square. Once everyone has arrived, a multitude of famous galleries and museums are on the agenda, as well as special visits to private design and illustration studios. Nothing is more inspiring than seeing Van Gogh’s Starry Night in person, or meeting the art director of DDB in New York. Free time can be spent marveling at the Statue of Liberty, wandering in Central Park or just having lunch at a local café. When it’s all done, the class returns to Vancouver in a state of both exhaustion and inspiration. The Big Apple has been tasted, and a satisfying taste it was.
